Invisalign®

Invisalign® offers an almost invisible aligning system that can straighten teeth and contains no metal.

Invisalign® treatment consists of a series of custom-made aligning trays changed every several weeks to fit your new tooth configuration.

Invisalign® aligning trays have revolutionized orthodontics, and are renowned for being comfortable and effective, and producing stunning results.

What kind of bite problems can Invisalign® correct?

Invisalign® can correct some of the same problems as traditional braces.

Some problems commonly corrected with Invisalign® include:

  • Crowding
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Rotated teeth
  • Crossbite
  • Excessive or insufficient overbite
  • Underbite

What are some differences between Invisalign® and traditional braces?

There are several considerations when deciding between Invisalign® and traditional braces, the most important being the specific orthodontic problems you and your orthodontist are trying to correct. This should be discussed with your orthodontist during your treatment planning phase.

Invisalign® aligning trays are removable, which can make cleaning easier than with braces. They also require more discipline to ensure the aligner trays are in your mouth for the required amount of time. This is not usually a problem since the trays are comfortable.

What does Invisalign® treatment involve?

First, a comprehensive oral exam and complete set of records will be obtained including photos, scans, and a 3D image. The orthodontist will then generate treatment options.

If you choose Invisalign® treatment, a unique set of aligners is made, and tooth colored attachments are bonded to your teeth. The total amount of aligners required varies for each person, but 20-30 sets per arch is standard. New trays are provided approximately every six weeks. Once active treatment is complete, you will need to wear retainers as prescribed by your orthodontist to ensure your teeth maintain their new, optimal position.

What are some considerations when wearing Invisalign® trays?

Invisalign® aligning trays may take several weeks to get used to. The trays should be worn constantly, except when eating and drinking. It is important to remove the trays when consuming food or drink. Be sure to continue seeing your dentist for regular check-ups and cleanings throughout treatment.

What happens when I complete Invisalign® treatment?

Once you’ve completed treatment, wearing your retainer as prescribed will be very important. Your retainers ensure your teeth will stay in their proper position.
